What should I expect my first time at Life Church?
We know that the first time at a new church can be a uncertain, so we want you to know as much as you can before you arrive so we can put your mind at ease. Take a minute to look at the FAQ below. Then, if there are other things you'd like to know before you come out, feel free to e-mail our Pastor at pastordan@lifechurchpa.com.
What are the services like? Are there lots of traditions that I'm not going to know that are going to make me feel out of place?
Our services are relaxed and informal. Every once in a while, we stand to sing, then sit back down, but there is always clear direction so you're never left guessing. We don't repeat things that you don't know -- but if we do read a Bible verse together once in a while, we project it on the screen so that everyone can read it together. We put all the words to all the songs on the screen, so you don't have to struggle flipping through a song book. And our Pastor puts all the Bible passages he uses in his weekly message on the screen so you can follow along, even if you've never opened a Bible in your life. In our services, we're not interested in blindly following all sorts of traditions. The goal of our weekend celebration is to present the timeless truths of the Bible in exciting, contemporary ways that help us to apply them to our lives today. At Life Church, we make church fun and meaningful at the same time -- just the way we think Jesus would want it! Go here to find out more about the kind of experience you can expect at Life Church.
How long are services?
The weekend celebration at Life Church lasts just more than an hour. We begin promptly at 10 AM and end between 11 AM and 11:15 AM.
Where do I park?
Our weekend worship experiences are held at Carmike Cinema located behind Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg. Plenty of parking is available in the lots in front and on the side of the theater.
Will I be singled out in any way as a visitor?
At Life, you’ll never be put on the spot, never feel forced to give money, and never embarrassed. We won't stick a name tag on you, make you stand up to show you're a visitor, or singled out in any way. We will be friendly, say "hi", and gladly answer any questions you have and help you however we can. Our goal is to encourage you get you excited about the great things God can do in your life, not to embarrass you in any way.
Where do my kids go during the service?
We strongly encourage you to take advantage of KidzLife for your children. KidzLIFE provides an exciting, age-appropriate experience for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and elementary age children through fifth grade. This allows you to get the most from your experience at Life Church while your child has a great time in a safe, friendly kid-centered environment! We understand that sometimes a first time in a new place can be challenging for a young child, so if your child needs to stay with you, we understand. We know from experience, though, that all young children will ultimately enjoying coming more if they are in an age-appropriate experience. Not only that, it helps them build friendships with other kids who are trying to follow Jesus, too!
If you have a middle school or high school age young person, they are invited to attend the service with you. They will enjoy our music (it's not traditional church fare!) and our pastors messages are interesting and helpful to adults and youth alike. In addition, we have TPSM for Teens(Turning Point Student Ministries) that is designed specifically for them and meets every Sunday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Ministry Center.
Is Life Church a Christian church?
Yes! We believe that Jesus is the one way to a relationship with the Living God and that He is the only answer for the various ways we have failed and rebelled against God. Our style is non-traditional, but we are deeply committed to the eternal truths of the Christian faith. In our weekend celebrations, our music and messages are focused on honoring Jesus and learning to live in a way that pleases Him while bringing true life and satisfaction to us. What kind of Church is this?
Life Church is an independent, evangelical, interdenominational church. That means:
INDEPENDENT
We are an autonomous congregation. That means we decide what is best for our church family, not a far away denominational office.
EVANGELICAL
We are a Christ-centered, Bible-based congregation that wants to look beyond ourselves to make a difference in as many lives as possible.
INTERDENOMINATIONAL
We aren't Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, Presbyterian, or anything else you can think of. We're Christians, and we are made up of people from many different backgrounds. What we all have in common is that we believe the best way to live is God's way and we're working together to do just that day to day and week to week.
