At Life Church, not only do we have certain doctrines that we believe, but certain principles we believe make a great church family. In all we do, we try our best to live by our eight core values.
We value...
...Godly leadership...
Leadership in the church is different than leadership in the world. Jesus said that those who wish to be great will be willing to serve. We look for leaders who embody the idea of servant leadership and who are excited about guiding every member into using their God-given abilities to the fullest. We also seek to know how God wants Life Church to accomplish His mission and to guide each other into fulfilling that mission strategically and intentionally. ~ Nehemiah 1 and 2; Romans 12:8; Acts 6:2-5.
...Preaching and teaching that transforms lives...
The church exists to teach God's Word, not so we can know it, but so we can live it. Because of that, every message, lesson, and LIFE group will have as its primary goal bringing the Word of God to life so that we can apply it in our day to day lives. ~ Romans 12:7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25.
...Healthy and loving relationships...
Love will be our motivation for all we do, and will be shown by kindnness, mercy, authenticity, accountability, and deliberate nurturing of relationships. ~ 1 Corinthians 13; Nehemiah 3; John 13:34-35; Acts 2:44-47; Psalm 133:1.
...Excellence...
God deserves our best and so do the people we seek to serve. When we do our best, it honors God and inspires people. This applies to our Sunday celebrations, and to all we do throughout the week. ~ Colossians 3:23-24; Malachi 1:6-14; Proverbs 27:17.
...The ministry of every believer...
At Life Church, not every member is a pastor, but every member has a ministry. God has given every member of His body abilities that are crucial to the overall health of the church. As such, the church should be a team of men, women, and young people all serving in the areas in which God has gifted them. As we do this, we do it in and with an attitude of unity and servanthood. We know that every member is important and do our best to show that in all we do. ~ 1 Corinthians 12 & 14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4; 1 Peter 4:10.
...Contemporary worship that exalts God and inspires people...
God desires all of us, including our emotions, so we seek to use music, video, messages, and other elements that reach our emotions as well as our intellect. When we offer our emotions to God, He is honored because He is receiving the gift of the adoration of our hearts. We do this through singing, communion, prayer, messages that call us to life-change, and giving back to God. We utilize contemporary means to do this because it is through these means that we best reach our emotions and thus honor God. ~ John 4:24; Psalm 100; Hebrews 2:12; Matthew 4:10b; Acts 2:46-47.
...Our Mission...
We believe that reaching the unchurched is God's deepest desire and our primary mission. This means we will always be warm, welcoming, accepting, and helpful. We will seek to invite, connect, build relationships, and share how God is working in our lives with those who don't have a relationship with Him or are searching to make their relationship with Him right. ~ Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14; Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 15:1-5.
...Wholehearted Commitment...
We believe that putting God first should be the norm for every believer. God desires that we be committed to Jesus with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. This means that we constantly seek to commit our time, talents, and resources to accomplish His mission for our lives and for His church. This is the call of every believer, not some special class of super-believer. ~ Romans 12:1-2; 1 Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 8:7; 1 Timothy 4:14.
