About the Bible

God inspired human authors to write the sixty-six books of the Bible and guided their words as they wrote. These writers recorded the values and principles that God intends for us to live by, that honor Him, and that are in our best interest. We believe the Bible is without error.   It is the only reliable guide by which we can live our lives.  We look to the Bible to understand the character of God and to be the final authority on all matters of faith and conduct.

About God

We believe there is one God who has existed eternally. He exists in three distinct, fully divine persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While we cannot fully comprehend His divine nature, He desires to have a relationship with us, His creation.  Like a father, he wants to have a personal, eternal relationship with us. We believe that God loves us and always wants what is best for us.

About Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and fully God Himself.  He chose voluntarily to become fully human.  He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and, despite that, He allowed Himself to be executed by crucifixion. His death paid the penalty for our offenses against God.  He rose from the dead three days after His death, appeared to over 500 witnesses over a period of forty days, He ascended into heaven where He now serves as the Mediator between God and man. We believe that at the end of time He will again visibly return to earth to complete His eternal plan.

About the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in each believer. His presence gives spiritual life to believers and seals them as children of God. The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying God's principles and values. The Holy Spirit also equips Christ followers with talents and abilities for the purpose of building up God's church and making a difference in the lives of others.

About Man

God created us to have a relationship with Him. However, the first man & woman were deceived by Satan. They chose to disobey God and live their own way. Their decision broke their relationship with God and created an inherent human tendency to choose our own way instead of God’s.  We all fail to please God and choose to live selfishly instead of according to His plan . Our failure to please God, unless a relationship is re-established with Him, would cause us to be eternally condemned and separated from Him. Only through Jesus can we reestablish our relationship with God, find the best life for the present, and eternal life in heaven in the future.

About Our Relationship with God

We are dependent on God’s mercy for our relationship with Him. God demonstrated this mercy by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, even though we had chosen to rebel against Him. Our relationship with God is restored when we make a commitment to accept Jesus as the Leader of our lives. Through faith in Jesus, our sins are forgiven, & we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit & eternal life. Practically speaking, this acceptance is demonstrated through a private & public commitment. We demonstrate our commitment privately by faith and repentance (trusting God & turning back to God and choosing His way over ours).  At the same time, we publicly express our commitment by confessing our acceptance of God's salvation and submitting ourselves in Christian baptism.

 About the Christian Life

Once our relationship is re-established with God, we naturally want to spend time with Him and know Him better. The Holy Spirit guides us as we read God's Word, as we communicate with Him in prayer, and as we enter into loving relationships with other believers. As we grow our relationship with God, we desire to be like Him and please Him.

About the Church

We believe the church represents Jesus Christ to a lost and confused world. The Bible says the church is Christ's body.  Jesus is the head. God arranges the parts of the body, believers, just as He wants them to be. He gives each believer special functions to perform for the good of the body. To remain healthy, the body's members must work together. Each part contributes to the growth and maturity of the body. God works through the church to reconcile a lost world to Himself through Jesus. For this reason it is important for believers to regularly gather together for the purpose of celebration. During celebration, Christ followers are equipped, built up, and encouraged through teaching, fellowship, prayer, and communion. Celebration in this way enables believers to serve one another and the unchurched people in their sphere of influence.
